Materials Needed:

Three Sizes of Grapevine Wreaths
Kraft Paper
(Grocery Store Bag)
Buttons
Felt
3 yards Plaid Ribbon
Acrylic Paint: Black and White
Sandwich Baggie or Clear Wrap
Extra Wire,
Craft Glue,
Black Markers (opt),
Old Sock or Rag
Directions:

1. Lay grapevine wreaths in a line with largest on bottom, smallest on top. Carefully wire them together where the rings touch each other, using two pieces of wire at the top and bottom of the middle ring. Tighten the wires to keep the rings steady. Measure the height of your snowman from top to bottom and cut apiece of Kraft paper 4” longer than your measurement (optional: open up a grocery store bag). Crumple your Kraft paper ( bag) into a ball, squeezing firmly, then unfold and smooth out LEAVING THE WRINKLES. Place a sandwich bag or plastic wrap over your hand and slide in to sock or wrap in a rag. Squeeze a sizable amount of white acrylic paint into your palm and close hand to spread paint. Lightly glide palm over the Kraft paper. Painting the wrinkles white, leaving some of the brown exposed. Allow to dry.

2. Turn the snowman over and carefully spread craft glue over the back of the three rings. Lay the snowman glue side down on the Kraft paper and weigh it down with some heavy books or magazines. When dry, remove the weights and trim the Kraft paper away from the snowman.

3. Glue multi-color buttons together in clusters. Take these clusters and glue to Kraft paper as buttons (refer to picture). Cut 2 Kraft paper circles 1/2 inch across. Paint black for eyes and paint a small white circle in each. Glue to snowman for eyes. Cut a small triangle with a slightly curved bottom. Roll into a cone, glue and paint black when dry. Glue to snowman as nose. Paint or Draw mouth and eyebrows in black (refer to picture). Tie the plaid ribbon in a bow on the snowman’s neck and curl the ribbon down the body. Glue in a couple of spots to keep it in place.

4. Out of the black felt, cut a square 7x7 inches, an oval 6” long by 2” wide, and a large flat donut shape 9” long by 13” wide, with the hole measuring 6 1/2 “ long by 1” wide. Hot glue or stitch 2 sides of the square together, creating a tube open at the top and bottom. Glue the oval on top, closing one end, now the top of the hat. Glue or stitch the flat donut shape around the bottom of the tube, making it into the brim of the hat. Fold an 18” piece of wire into an upside down U shape and glue inside the hat for support. Glue the hat over the top snowman’s top ring, tilted to one side. For hanging, attach a wire loop to the back of the snowman’s head through the felt hat.
